5 Practical Ways to Combat Stress as an Entrepreneur
combat-stress-entrepreneur
We know that running a business can feel like a never-ending battle. Some days may be better than others. What helps a lot is knowing that you have a community to help you endure the challenges that you have to face.
We’ve created a list of practical steps you can start to help you better manage the mental hurdles.
As entrepreneurs, it can be hard enough to deal with day-to-day tasks. If we’re not careful while working hard to achieve our goals, we can neglect our responsibilities, including the caring of our loved ones, ourselves, and our environment.
Tools like apps, day planners, and digital calendars can help keep you organized, but you’ll need to strike a balance between your entrepreneurial and personal lives. Here is where developing your arsenal to combat stress comes in.
In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 40 seconds. Every year, about 805,000 Americans have a heart attack.
As entrepreneurs, it can be hard enough to deal with day-to-day tasks. If we’re not careful while focusing on achieving goals and balancing responsibilities, we can neglect our health. We don’t need ailments to add to the stressors of life.
The global pandemic forced independent creators to address how they did (or didn’t) take care of themselves. Not getting enough rest, missing meals, and working past 3 a.m. has been the status quo, but the silver lining to shuttering indoors was it forced us to slow down and assess our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Just as we set aside time to strengthen and enhance our contributions as actors, dancers, designers, and filmmakers, we need to see our family life, health, and wellness as precious endowments. We must protect these gifts at all costs and not sacrifice them to ‘secure the bag.’

5 Tips for A Productive Day

Build Healthy Habits
Although your To-Do list may be long, don’t forget that your body needs the right foods for optimal performance. Avoid processed foods and choose healthy options instead.

Take it Easy
Work smart by giving your body self-care as needed. Try to take a break that doesn’t involve checking your email or social media. Don’t be afraid to put down your phone or step away from your laptop for 20 minutes and move around.

Avoid Team no Sleep
Avoid #Team No Sleep like the Plague. Those who don’t sleep are slow to think. It’s okay to take a couple of days off for household tasks and downtime. Think of your business journey as a marathon, not a sprint. Do your best each day, and pace yourself.

Stay Connected
If we’re honest, this journey can be isolating, and if you’re not careful, it can also lead to mental health challenges. You can fight this problem with virtual check-ins with colleagues and support teams. Don’t neglect your human need for connections for the sake of productivity.

Connect with a mentor
Do not be afraid to find a mentor to help you grow and develop your skills and ideas. There are leaders in your industry who would be happy to share what they’ve learned on their journey to success.  Find a mentor and set clear goals for you both.
