We’re continuing our theme of harvesting. We wanted to share with you some upcoming events you can attend.
On October 6, from 6 pm to 7 pm, you’ll be able to attend a Renters Rights and Responsibilities webinar. The presenter for the night is Kathy Bradley from Legal Aid Chicago.
Guests who register to attend the workshop will learn about the following:
- Tenant responsibilities
- Maintenance request best practices
- When and how to withold rent
- Terminating a lease

Title: Homebuyer Education
When: 2 -session Webinar on October 8 & 15, 9 am – 1 pm
When: 4-session Webinar on October 5, 12, 19, and 26, 6 pm – 8 pm
The Neighborhood Housing Services will host a Chicago Homebuyer Education Seminar.
The seminar is eight-hour home buyer education seminar that prepares you for the complicated process of buying a home. You’ll learn the basics of budgeting, improving your credit, understanding the closing process and down payment assistance programs. This course is divided into four parts:
- Orientation to the home buying process
- Budget & credit basics
- Shopping for a home
- Getting the deal done – closing
To receive a certificate of completion form you must complete all four classes totaling eight educational hours.
Note: This is an 8 hour course delivered in two – 4 hour sessions or four 2 hour sessions.

Title: Financial Fresh Start Workshop

Title: Foreclosure Prevention
When: October 20, 2022

The NHS Chicago is dedicated to affordable and sustainable housing. They’re focused on helping homeowners prevent foreclosure.
Foreclosure prevention education will help you better understand the foreclosure process. During this workshop, you’ll learn the home retention and explain non-retention options, the foreclosure process, loan modification, mediation, and available mortgage assistance grant program information.
